Creepy Crawlies!

When we lived in Mesa we had a couple of spiders and the occasional gross bug but that was about it. Since moving to Queen Creek we have seen a multitude of creepy crawling disgusting creatures. We have nothing but desert behind us so I guess it should be understood that it goes with the territory. We have had a couple of giant hairy scorpions, huge beetles, a baby Gila monster, giant grasshoppers and toads, ect. ect. Last night I went to take out the garbage and noticed something on the patio. At first I thought it was a clump of grass but then it moved. It was a HUGE spider. Not a tarantula mind you but a nasty disgusting spider with the leg span as big as my hand. EEEEEWWWWW!!!!! I ran inside and got the Raid and of course the camera and captured some pictures. (I know, I know I didn't put anything next to it to compare so you probably don't think it is very big. Matt has already given my a lecture. Sorry I wasn't going to get that close!) I took a picture that didn't turn out very good then sprayed it with the Raid. Then the stupid things started chasing me! After about a half can of Raid was used it slowed down for me to get this shot. Notice the trail of Raid. It did finally die after trying to get into the house. Now I have been totally creeped out since. Just thought I would share:)

Bono baby!

As many of you who read this know that I have LOVED U2 for many, many moons. We see them almost every time they are in town. Missed only 1 year. When tickets went on sale earlier this year I was sure to get mine. I got decent seats but have always been bummed that I never have been able to get floor tickets. Well that has changed! Today I won floor tickets to the concert next month. Can you say EXCITED?!!!!! Just thought I would share:)

Bragging moment

Okay, total bragging moment. I just wanted to let everyone know that my smart little cookie, Kristina, was invited into the National Junior Honor Society! Way to go kiddo! You make mom and dad so very proud.

Good ol' house cleaning

To start this off I will tell you that I am a total control freak. Shocking I know. I have to do things my own way and I STRESS when it is done different than what I'm used to. Needless to say I usually do most of the house work by myself. I have felt for sometime now that it is a disservice to the kids because they are not learning to help themselves. Well that changed today finally. I am proud to say that the kids finally learned some good old manual labor to use in their own homes someday. I tell ya it was totally killing me and took much, much longer than normal, but I'm glad I'm finally passing the buck on some of this stuff. Here are pictures to prove it:)

Matt was going to cut the grass and Sam wanted to be just like dad
Note that he is wearing safety goggles, hat and using a pink jug to water the vines
Kristina learning some mad skills in cleaning the bathroom
Give me all your money! ha ha
Riley complaining the whole time how heavy the vacuum is
Sam was totally loving this
After he was done he wanted to do it again

McDonalds????

Which is better? Crossing guard or drive thru man at McDonald's? He's a cutie either way.

Riley-ism

Today we were tormenting Kristina...hee hee! I was talking on the phone with Brittney and telling her what my stinker Kristina had said to me this morning. Kristina was of course horrified that I was sharing such information and wanted to know who I was talking to. I kept saying it was her boyfriend which was further annoying her:) Riley of course added into the conversation by telling Kristina that her boyfriend was telling me how dreamy Kristina was. Bwhahahaha!! Where or where does she come up with these things!

What a good guy

So this past Saturday we went as a family to see Harry Potter and then we were going to go to Bill Johnson's Big Apple for some yummy BBQ and fried zucchini. Sam ended up getting sick during the movie and just wanted to go home. Needless to say my huge craving for fried zucchini was DENIED! We had a big adventure that night just getting something to eat and a long story short I was DENIED on Dunkin Donuts also that night. Matt knew how disappointed I was so today he surprised me at work with some YUMMY fried zucchini from Bill Johnson's today for lunch. Wasn't that just awesome of him?! Thanks dear...I loved it:)

Another Sam-ism

As I am sitting here checking my stuff on the computer and Sam came up to inform me that he no longer want to design houses when he grows up. This is our conversation.

Sam-Mommy I don't want to design houses when I grow up.

Me-Why?

Sam-Because I want to be the guy on the side of the road with the stop sign and vest.

Me-A crossing guard?

Sam-Yes!!

Me-Yeah I don't think so...maybe part-time job but you can design houses full-time.

Sam-Bummer....Okay.

Silly rabbit!
